The Budget allocation for higher and technical education in the country is set to treble in the 11th Five-Year Plan (2007-2012) with the Planning Commission expected to allocate over Rs 26,000 crore, compared to Rs 8,876 crore in the 10th Five-Year Plan.

Intel Corp. ties up with three Indian PC vendors, including HCL Infosystems Ltd., Wipro Ltd., and Zenith Computers Ltd to assemble the Classmate PC. The company will start shipping the product to Indian schools in September, 2007 which will be sold only to schools and not through retail channels to consumers.
