Erive Community Radio is bringing a change in the lives of young girls in Maganja da Costa. The UNICEF-supported station has led to a rise in enrollment in primary schools through its programmes promoting girls education. The station is run in partnership with Mozambiques Social Communication Institute.

Illiteracy among women will only worsen the already serious problem of digital divide, says Womens Literacy and Information and Communication Technologies: Lessons that Experience has Taught Us, a book by Commonwealth of Learning. The study highlights policy as well as implementation strategies in the use of ICTs for womens literacy.

Rekha Devi is a reporter for Aangan Ke Paar, a BBC World Service Trust-produced weekly radio programme broadcast from 22 AIR stations and BBC Hindi dealing with issues concerning women, especially HIV/AIDS.
