The Institute for Habitat Development (Co-Plan) has already started the project on Roma people in Elbasan with funds of Cordaid (Dutch NGO). The project aims the integration and life improvement of Roma community within the city of Elbasan.

New Delhi-based NGO working on media issues - Centre for Media Studies - is holding a conference, Communication for Social Development: Discourse and Practice at the south Indian city of Hyderabad from April 12-14, 2007. The three-day event is being held in collaboration with the University of Hyderabad.

Expectations of the academia -- that had asked for an almost 10-fold increase in the allocation towards higher education -- fell flat with Budget 2007-08. The Moily committee had recommended an allocation of Rs 17,000 crore.
