31.10.2005 Multinational and Indian seed companies are paying Indian farmers who are producing their cotton seed almost 40%- too little to enable them to hire adults for the local minimum wage of Rs.52 (€1,-) instead of children. The companies are multinationals like Bayer, Monsanto and Syngenta but also Indian companies like Nuziveedu Seeds, Raasi Seeds and Ankur Seeds.

27.10.2005 POKHARA: Participants, at an interaction organised by the Resource Development Centre Nepal on Wednesday, said that conflict was creating hurdles in attaining millennium development goals in the country. As long as there is stability in Nepal, goals cannot be achieved, they said. Associate professor Dr Lekhnath Bhattarai presented a report which said as long as conflicts, instability, corruption and inequality exist, MDGs will never be achieved.

Tirana University will increase its part-time quotas for this academic year.
26.10.2005 Shezai Rrokaj, the Chancellor of Tirana University, announced that, for this academic year, the part-time admissions criteria will be based on the high school grades of the candidates. In his opinion, the average high-school grade is a more significant in the education of the youth than the actual entry exams.
