Starting with next school year, the pupils in Montenegro elementary schools will be introduced to a new subject in the Curriculum, called “Healthy lifestyles”. This initiative was launched by Montenegrin organisation for combating HIV/AIDS – CAZAS. Yesterday, CAZAS representatives announced the completion of the first phase of the project “Healthy lifestyles against drug abuse”.

The absence of information technology is not limited to rural schools alone. The analysis, presented in the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), said that overall, the percentage of computers at primary schools is as low as 3.95.

The 2005 Human Development Report paints a bleak picture of the progress made toward those aims six years into the campaign. Among the highlights: The report says the goals for poverty, universal education and child mortality will all be missed in 10 years if current trends continue.

The first women's university of south Punjab formally has started functioning, initially with four disciplines, at the Government College for Women in Multan. In a ceremony held at the girl's college, the university formally launched its post-graduate academic activities for women.

Empowerment basically means to be able to do things on your own. Education is the basic pre-requisite of doing things on your own terms.An educated country has the best chance of thriving. The world is set to miss its target of getting as many girls as boys into schools by the end of this year, the UN childrenÂ’s fund (Unicef) said on Friday. In a new study, Unicef said that efforts to achieve gender parity in primary education were off track, despite progress in many nations.

Bangladesh govt planning to introduce 'unified education system' at the secondary level.The system that intends to replace the existing compartmentalized methods of education---- students are allowed to take up science, commerce and humanities subjects at class nine--- with an unified education system at the secondary level from the next academic year.

Government officers attended seminars, generally organized by NGOs, and declared unabashedly that the government could not do everything and that the private sector must step in to help. . Children staged skits to highlight miseries of child beggars and working street children, urging their parents to take care of their offspring by admitting them to the Centre for Street Children to make them useful citizens. The function was arranged by Terre des Hommes (TDH), a Switzerland-based NGO, at the Centre for Street Children here on Tuesday, to observe the ChildrenÂ’s Rights Day.

South Asian tsunami caused widespread destruction and loss of lives and livelihood in the coastal areas of Tamilnadu and Pondichery last winter. OneWorld South Asia and Plan International brought its integrated media training to the east coast region of the Indian Peninsula to train children and youth on using various media to voice their communityÂ’s concerns.

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) completed 10 years in January 2005 and is getting ready for its sixth Ministerial conference in Hong Kong in December. It is important to discuss strengthen and weakness of different sector before making commitment. The emergence of education services under GATS and the emergence of private providers of education- domestic as well as foreign, in particular, have necessitated clear policy guidelines and regulations.

Maoists have closed down another community school. The Maoists locked Rana Bhuwaneshwari Higher Secondary School in Khadgabhanjyang VDC-5, Nuwakot, along with some other schools in Gaganbhanjyang VDC of the district.

A tripartite agreement for providing mid-day meals to 20,000 school children in Chittaurgarh district of Rajasthan has been signed between the State Government, Hyderabad-based Nandi Foundation and the Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL). The students in primary schools will be served with hot and nutritious food every afternoon under the scheme.
