If the Government of B&H Federation and the Middle-Bosnian Canton fail to pay their share of the funds necessary to cover the costs of meals and accommodation by June 1, 500 students at the Sarajevo student dormitories will be forced to start a hunger-strike.

The Initiative Board for StudentsÂ’ Rights, made of representatives of students from all student dormitories in Skopje starts an initiative for a review of the work and operation of Tenants Councils. The announcement was made at the press conference, held today in Skopje, at the NGO InfoCentre.

The new cycle of the “School of Democracy” by the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia, started at the facilities of the Committee in Novi Sad. The programme is dedicated to youth, high school and university students, and youth Ngo activists, and will last till Friday, May 27.

Transparency International B&H started a new anti-corruption project, “Education Against Corruption”. The pilot-stage of the project will be implemented in the area of Banja Luka by October 2005.

Swaziland donor agencies are increasingly asking theatre groups to write and perform dramas about hot topics like HIV/AIDS and women's rights. Particularly with HIV/AIDS, donor agencies hope that by providing the message in an entertaining way, they can reach more people about the dangers and spread of the disease.

“The WorldBank has secured 10 million US Dollars for the programme and reform in higher education it implements in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, announced Dirk Reinermann, the Head of the WB Office in B&H, at the lecture on the role of the WorldBank in the strengthening of youth activism in B&H he gave in Mostar. The lecture was organized by the Nansen Dialogue Centre Mostar.

A World Economic Forum (WEF) report on gender says Nordic countries have the least ratio in gender gap while the populous Asian countries, including India, have very high gender gaps. The study studied economic participation, economic opportunity, political empowerment, educational attainment and health and well-being of women versus men.
