The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) has teamed up with Italian NGO L'Umana Dimora Onlus to add years of practical EU experience to its Training for Young Environmental Leaders programme. The programme provides advanced training in organisational development, project management and environmental topics in a stimulating international atmosphere.

In most African societies, children are supposed to be seen not heard. On Friday, June 24, at Eroet Primary School grounds, Soroti district, Eastern Uganda, things were different. Children talked their hearts out as adults in various ranks sat and listened, often uncomfortably.

The Millennium Project has submitted a report to the UN secretary general, that provides the best strategies for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The UN Millennium Project is headed by Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs, Special Advisor to the Secretary-General on the MDGs. The bulk of its analytical work has been carried out by 10 thematic task forces comprising more than 250 experts from around the world.

It took some persuasion to get the women attending a rape-trauma counseling meeting to agree to start a literacy program. But when the program debuted in Bunia, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, over 200 women enrolled, and now the women say they stand up for their rights, and by doing so, can protect other women from violence in the future.

De acordo com a pesquisa, o índice de matérias pautadas por questões que podem provocar reflexão (Índice de Relevância Social - IRS) superou o número das consideradas não-relevantes para a formação cidadã dos adolescentes. Essa tendência vem se consolidando a cada ano. Em 2001 o IRS era de apenas 45,97%. Já em 2002 subiu para 53,85%. Nos dois anos seguintes evoluiu para 54,84% e 57,54%, respectivamente.

The Centre for Environment Education (CEE), an autonomous NGO of the Indian government is reaching out to schools all over the country with environmental education. One of its programmes - National Environment Education Programmes for Schools (NEEPS) - is run in collaboration with a number of partners all over India.
