The aim of the “Lost-Found” booklet is to introduce the citizens to their rights and help them find the right address among the public institutions, so that they could realize their rights and interests. The booklet was officially presented yesterday, August 30, by its authors, Dragan Zelic and Alina Jurjevic.

The “Professional Reporting on Education” training was developed by the Reuters Foundation for 11 BiH journalists that cover the field of education in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The training was sponsored by the OSCE Mission to BiH Education Department and held in the town of Mostar 24-26 August, 2005.

A organização não-governamental Rede de Amizade iniciou desde o último sábado, 27, o Projeto Amazonas da Noite, em Manaus – AM. O projeto trabalha com capacitação em prevenção às DST/Aids para profissionais do sexo na capital do Estado e foi inspirado em um projeto inicial da ONG, realizado em 2002, e chamado Protagonistas da Noite, que durou cerca de seis meses.

A successful legacy of social reform, focussing on women's education, has been a motivating factor for women's formal and non-formal education promoted by the State government, private foundations and voluntary organisations in Maharashtra. Centres for women's studies in the universities in the State provide platforms for constructive dialogue to eradicate the hurdles in the way of women's empowerment through education.

A study conducted by the South African Institute for Distance Education (SAIDE) with support from the Royal Netherlands Embassy, demonstrates that that one of the reasons why information and communication technology (ICT) projects in schools do not succeed is that principals are often not properly informed about what ICTs can or cannot do.

Last week, the Foundation for Education, Science, Culture and Sports and the “Sparkle of Knowledge” Creative Centre promoted the project of creative workshops for children in elementary schools in Sarajevo and Istocno Sarajevo. The promotion was held at “Saraj” Hotel, in Sarajevo.

Ampam Karakras is a man on a mission. A Shuar from the Ecuadorian Amazon, he recalls the days when the Shuar (or Jivaro as they were then known to Westerners) were famed for their secret technique of shrinking human heads. As a youth, he was sent to boarding schools run by Salesian Catholic priests where he learned Spanish and was educated in Western ways. But unlike indigenous boarding school experiences in other parts of the world, AmpamÂ’s years among the Salesians strengthened his appreciation both for the value of education and for the Shuar people and their culture.

The Montenegro Education, Science and Culture Trade Unions organizes the third annual campaign “Give away, Buy or Sell Used Schoolbooks”, with the goal to promote the exchange of schoolbooks and literature among the elementary and highschool students and to help the parents to equip their children properly for the coming school-year, for less money.
