African journal of ICT is organising 5 days tutorial and training workshops on VoIP, IPTV, Mobile TV, Softswitch, real-time protocols and IP over Power Line communications at The Bell Rosen Cape Town, Western Province, South Africa from Jul 09, 2007 - Jul 13, 2007. The workshops will impart skills in IP and digital communications based on experienced industry practitioners and cover technologies, strategies, billing, marketing, regulation and implementations.

The government of the south Indian state of Kerala has made it clear that discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS will not be tolerated and has readmitted HIV-positive children who were dismissed from a school in December 2006.

The United Nations Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for Development has launched the website for the Forum on Youth and ICT for Development, to be held on 24-26 September in Geneva, Switzerland. It aims to involve youth in discussions with policymakers and concerned citizens and to encourage their full participation in society through the use of ICT.

WhatÂ’s so special in this rural school is that there arenÂ’t any drop-outs and the school produces better students as compared to other schools in the vicinity.

In the aftermath of the Taliban rule, Afghanistan began reviving its education system. UNICEF is now supporting the government to develop a teacher-training system to enlarge the pool of female teachers who were barred previously.

Red Hat has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government of Kerala, India, under which it will support Kerala's deployment of open source software that will hasten the efforts of e-governance and e-literacy in the state.

Bal Panchayats are the new means to empower children in rural India. These groups of children function at the village level to raise their voices on various social issues that affect their lives. Kalyan Singh Kothari heard them out at a show in Jaipur, Rajasthan on the World Fair Trade Day.

600 000 afrikkalaista koulua on osallistumassa seuraavan vuosikymmenen kuluessa suureen e-kouluhankkeeseen. Pilottihankkeet osoittivat posiitivisia kokemuksia oppimistuloksissa ja köyhyyden vastaisessa taistelussa. Koulujen tietokoneistamisen haasteet liittyvät erityisesti johtajien ja opettajien tarpeeksi ripeään kouluttamiseen.
