Le 27 juin, MSF a ouvert à Aguié son cinquième centre de nutrition thérapeutique au Niger, d'une capacité de 150 lits d'hospitalisation. Warnings of an impending food crisis in Niger, sounded by the U.N. and other aid agencies late last year, met with little response from the international donor community. Humanitarian Affairs chief, Jan Egeland.

Locally grown sustainable food is increasingly popular, and stores that aren’t providing it yet may just be out of the loop or unsure of where to start, says the Global Resource Action Center for the Environment. Speak to the manager at your local supermarket, deli, restaurant, or café about locally grown food, or download an information card to leave with your next tip.

WASHINGTON, D.C., Jul 14 (OneWorld) - African researchers are developing their own, locally suited genetically modified crops but their research, which could relieve famine and help the environment, has yet to benefit small farmers because regulators are ill-equipped to clear the crops for general use, international food experts said in a new report.

''The number-one forgotten and neglected emergency in the world'' continues to be neglected and forgotten, aid agencies around the world are saying, as Mali and Niger fight to stave off starvation brought on by drought and a recent attack by locusts. Some speculate that the influx of aid to tsunami-affected areas has left few leftovers for other people in need.
