A research by the National Commission for Enterprises in the Unorganised Sector (NCEUS) – an advisory body to the Indian government and a watchdog for the informal sector – throws light on shocking levels of poverty amongst 836 million informal workers who eke out a living on a mere Rs 20 a day.

According to a new report by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the labour force in Asia which is estimated at some 1.8 billion is expected to grow more than 200 million by 2015. The report emphasis on the improvement of the jobs and ensure equal distribution of the benefits for Asia's future economic growth.

An Indian NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) has rescued 129 child labourers from New Delhi in 2005 and filed the case in The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to register the children under the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act 1976. After 2 years the commission grants the issue of release certificates and asks for their rehabilitation.
