The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in B&H, under its regular monitoring activities, prepared an analysis of the status of asylum seekers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Foreign nationals, asylum seekers in particular, are among the most vulnerable population categories and their rights are violated far more often than the rights of other citizens.

A imprensa latino-americana alerta que, neste ano, o número de brasileiros capturados por tentar entrar nos Estados Unidos pela fronteira com o México aumentou. Há informações de que mais de 12 mil brasileiros fracassaram em sua tentativa apenas em 2005. O aumento da quantidade de brasileiros que tentam entrar ilegalmente nos Estados Unidos pela fronteira com o México pode ser explicado pela ação de quadrilhas de contrabandistas, que oferecem pacotes baratos. Somente em dois dias do mês de maio, 200 brasileiros foram detidos.
