Ainda que seja a maior tragédia marítima do Equador, o naufrágio do barco que levava equatorianos que tentavam cruzar a fronteira dos Estados Unidos de maneira ilegal é apenas a ponta do iceberg. Para concretizar o sonho de uma vida com mais conforto e menos pobreza, centenas de equatorianos arriscam a própria vida.

The Rajya Sabha on August 16, 2005, passed the Hindu Succession (Amendment) Bill, 2004, giving daughters and sons equal rights to property. Indian Law Minister Hans Raj Bhardwaj says that this legislation, recognising a daughter's right to inherit ancestral property was a path-breaking step towards gender equality in India.

Il y a cinq ans, le Président Mugabe lançait une vaste campagne de confiscation de terres, saisissant plus de 10 millions d'acres de terres appartenant surtout à des fermiers blancs. Quels que soient les maux dus au colonialisme et à son héritage, les actions de Mugabe sur le peuple n'ont fait que provoquer famine et ruine de l'économie.

a sous-représentation des femmes au sein des instances électives dans presque tous les pays du monde est de notoriété publique. Au-delà de la dénonciation, certaines mesures concrètes peuvent être mises en place afin de remédier à cette situation. Parmi ces moyens, on discute de plus en plus de l'implantation de quotas visant à augmenter la présence des femmes en leur assurant un certain pourcentage à différents niveaux : listes de candidatures, parlements, commissions, cabinets, etc.
