In its annual country report on the state of Human Rights in Macedonia released last Wednesday, the US Department of State observed that that there is strong evidence that Roma asylum seekers have been discriminated against in the refugee status determination procedure. Moreover, the discrimination against Roma asylum seekers reflects the general oppression of Roma in Macedonian society.

Sex workers at a rally yesterday placed an 11-point demand to resolve their various problems. These include stopping forced eviction from brothels, arrangement of alternative income and ensuring healthcare end education. Another demand was to raise the issue of trafficking at different forums and create awareness about their human rights.
