It has been more than a decade now when the scale of arsenic poisoning disaster in Bangladesh first came to light. Millions are still drinking the water contaminated by deadly chemical. Prof Mahmuder Rahman, who helped draft the National Arsenic Mitigation Policy, says in an interview that the country needs a long-term solution.

In a rebuttal to the clean chit given by a prestigious body to Coca-Cola, the Centre for Science and Environment has said that in the absence of standards for pesticide residues in colas, soft drinks are still not safe for drinking in India.
