Sandra Pernar, Deputy President of GONG association received the Council of Europe Award for its “First Time Voter” Project, yesterday in Strassbourg. “First Time Voter” is a project implemented by GONG for six years in a row, at Croatian secondary schools. Over 100,000 high-school students have participated in the projects.

The constitutive session of the Youth Steering Committee of the Republic of Srpska was held today in Banja Luka. The Committee was established and named by the Government of the Republic of Srpska, upon prior proposal by the State Secretariat for Sports and Youth, in accordance with the Law on Youth Organization.

The number of people unemployed worldwide climbed to new heights in 2005, as robust economic growth failed to offset an increase in people seeking work – especially among the vast and growing legion of jobless youth, the International Labour Office (ILO) said in its annual Global Employment Trends released today.

The Ombudspersons of the B&H Federation, Vera Jovanovic, Esad Muhibic and Branka Raguz, reccomended the Federal Ministry of ducation and all cantonal education ministries in the Federation to secure free access to primary healthcare to all university and high school students, a right guaranteed by the federal Law on Healthcare.

No person under 18 years of age shall be allowed access to bars or other establishments selling alcoholic beverages and spirits. The use of alcoholic drinks will be authorised by law. A group of deputies of the Republican Party, led by the vice-chair of the party’s parliamentary club, Lajla Përnaska, drafted a law that was sent to the Albanian Parliament for approval.

The European Scout Region started a new youth project in the Southeast Europe – the Hajde! Project. The key topic of this new project is the “Youth and Local Development”. This project aims at assisting the youth in the SEE to increase their contributions to the development of their respective local communities.
