Professor Biswas is an Indian-born Canadian citizen and president of the Mexico City-based Third World Centre for Water Management.

24.08.2006 Representatives of five environmentalist organizations, “Krste Jon", „Areal", „Enhalon" and „Green Centre" from Struga, together with the Macedonian Green Centre from Skopje, addressed the President, Government and the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia in an open letter, to express their concern over the activities that the local authorities in the city of Struga have undertaken along the coastline of the Ohrid Lake, directly endangering the coastal zone.

03.08.2006 Delhi is fast emerging as a dump yard for e-wastes from around the world. Says Ravi Agarwal of NGO Toxics Link: "Delhi and surrounding areas have a big market for recycled e-waste. Be it burning of PVC coated copper wires, gold extraction from computer chips, reuse of glass, plastic or taking out lead from picture tubes; there is a ready market in north India. Each picture tube of a dismantled PC yields four to 5 kg of lead," Agarwal said.
