Yhdysvaltojen korkein oikeus kuuli keskiviikkona suullisesti esitettyjä lausuntoja vedenjakajan aseman saavuttaneessa ympäristöoikeudenkäynnissä. Jutussa ratkotaan, täytyykö Bushin hallituksen säätää rajoituksia hiilidioksidipäästöille maapallon lämpenemisen pysäyttämiseksi. The Good News is that Father Christmas uses a carbon-free transport system. The Bad News is that Christmas fuels consumerism and consumerism fuels global warming. Global warming fuels fear, guilt, doom and gloom. It all seems a far cry from Christmas.

YK:n ilmastokonferenssissa Nairobissa sovittiin uusista toimista ilmastonmuutokseen sopeutumiseksi. Erityisesti kehitysmaita halutaan tukea sopeutumisessa. Sopeutumista koskevaa päätöksentekoa halutaan tehostaa sekä helpottaa ilmastonmuutoksen vaikutusten arviointia. Tarkoitusta varten on perustettu myös erityinen rahasto, josta tuetaan konkreettisia kehitysmaihin liittyviä aloitteita.
