24.01.2008 EU komission mukaan Euroopan pitää vähentää kasvihuonekaasupäästöjään 20 prosenttia vuoden 1990 tasosta vuoteen 2020 mennessä. WWF:n mielestä tämä ei riitä: EU:n pitäisi vähentää päästöjään 30 prosenttia ja huutokaupata päästöoikeutensa, jotta kehitysmaita voitaisiin auttaa sopeutumaan ilmastonmuutokseen.
