19.12.2006 Suomen vuonna 1998 aloittama kehitysyhteistyö Länsi-Afrikassa sijaitsevan Burkina Fason kanssa on saatu päätökseen. Yhteistyön tuloksena kehitettiin suomalaisella tietotaidolla Burkina Fasolle soveltuva tehokas metsäpalojen torjuntajärjestelmä. Hankkeen toteuttamiseen osallistui Burkina Fason hallitus sekä tuhansia kyläläisiä neljässä läänissä.

13.12.2006 WWF Suomi paheksuu Metsähallituksen kiirettä käynnistää hakkuut Savukoskella. WWF:n ja Metsähallituksen välillä helmikuussa 2006 tehdyssä Pohjois-Suomen valtionmaiden vanhoja metsiä koskevassa ratkaisussa Metsähallitus totesi, ettei ryhdy toimenpiteisiin Metsä-Lapin suhteellisen luonnontilaisissa metsissä, ennen kuin selvitys luonnonsuojeluverkon kattavuudesta ja puutteista valmistuu.
