Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman of the U.N.Â’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the head of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) was interviewed by Sanctuary Asia, on climate change. He discussed on how this could affect India and suggests steps to adapt to and mitigate climate threats.

The north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh planted 10.5million trees on a single day, on 31 July 2007. The campaign was led by the Forest Department to raise awareness and increase tree cover.

The tribals of an east India state, Orissa leave for London to protest at the annual general meeting of mining giant Vedanta about the environmental impact of its proposed aluminium mining and processing plant in the Niyamgiri Hills, which is full of bauxite and other minerals. The plant will severely affect the livelihood and way of life of the tribals.
