Il Global Wind Energy Council (Gwec) ha reso noto che nel 2007 lenergia eolica ha raggiunto un nuovo record con linstallazione di altri 20 mila Mw nel mondo, un aumento del 30% rispetto al 2006. Gli Stati Uniti dAmerica guidano la classifica con linstallazione di 5.600 Mw di eolico, seguono la Cina con 3.600 Mw (una crescita del 156%) e la Spagna con 3.500 MW - riporta Greenplanet. Il principale produttore delleolico rimane comunque lEuropa, con oltre 57 GW installati alla fine del 2007, il 67% del totale mondiale: la Commissione Europea nei giorni scorsi ha proposto un piano per un'ulteriore forte espansione dell'energia eolica entro il 2020. In Italia, intanto, diverse associazioni ambientaliste locali si oppongono alla realizzazione di un parco eolico a Giuggianello: "Non siamo contro leolico che anzi va sostenuto: ma chiediamo che la Regione Puglia legiferi in maniera seria".

First of its kind in Bangladesh, DreamsPower is a 250 KW biomass gasification facility. Using the rice husk, this will generate renewable electricity and is part of a rural electrification project that will benefit hundreds of thousands of people living in villages.
