14.07.2006 Le agenzie umanitarie delle Nazioni Unite che operano nel Territorio Palestinese Occupato sono allarmate per l'evolversi della situazione sul campo, i cui sviluppi hanno causato la morte di civili innocenti, bambini inclusi, e un aumento della miseria per centinaia di migliaia di persone, con danni di vasta portata per l'intera società palestinese. La già drammatica situazione di Gaza, con tassi di povertà di circa l'8% e di disoccupazione di quasi il 40%, è destinata a peggiorare rapidamente se non saranno adottate misure immediate e urgenti. L'Unrwa, l'agenzia dell'Onu per l'assistenza agli oltre 980.000 rifugiati del TPO, ritiene che Gaza sia sull'orlo di un disastro sanitario. Le Agenzie umanitarie delle Nazioni Unite ritengono che la situazione si commenti da sola e ritengono imprescindibile un'assunzione di responsabilità di tutte le parti coinvolte. Se non verranno immediatamente adottate misure urgenti si andrà in contro ad una crisi umanitaria di vasta portata, con gravi conseguenze per le popolazioni per cui lavoriamo e le istituzioni attraverso cui operiamo.
