28.06.2006 Hace más de 16 meses que Luis Eduardo, Bellanira, Deiner, Alfonso, Santiago, Alejandro, Natalia y Sandra Milena fueron asesinados en forma bestial por parte del ejército. Después de dicha masacre el Estado, principalmente el gobierno, ha utilizado todos los medios para encubrir este crimen de lesa humanidad.

28.06.2006 "L’utopia dell’asilo” è il nome del rapporto curato dall’ong ICS, (Consorzio Italiano di solidarietà), secondo cui nel 2005 almeno 8 richiedenti asilo sono stati trattenuti nei centri di identificazione durante le procedure. Nel fare il bilancio del primo anno di vita della procedura di asilo introdotta dalla Bossi-Fini, l’ICS sottolinea come primo dato il crollo delle domande di asilo (9.346 dello scorso anno contro le 19.704 del 2002) e chiede che l’Italia si doti di una legge sull’asilo. "L'attuazione della legge Bossi-Fini ha avuto gravi conseguenze sulla tutela del diritto di asilo in Italia e sulla vita delle persone", commenta Gianfranco Schiavone, vice presidente di ICS.

Giornata contro la tortura - da Amnesty
26.06.2006 Le fotografie dei soldati statunitensi intenti a umiliare e terrorizzare prigionieri inermi nel carcere iracheno di Abu Ghraib, diffuse nel corso del 2004, hanno scioccato il mondo intero. Ma le azioni riprese dalle foto-camere non erano aberrazioni isolate. Nei due anni precedenti, Amnesty International (AI) aveva denunciato casi del genere in Afghanistan, in Iraq e a Guantánamo Bay e altrettanto ha fatto nei due anni successivi. Nel contesto della “guerra al terrore”, la proibizione internazionale della tortura e degli altri trattamenti crudeli, inumani e degradanti è stata rimessa in discussione da parte di molti Stati, i cui pubblici ufficiali hanno inflitto sofferenze inenarrabili a centinaia e centinaia di prigionieri, ricorrendo a metodi così abominevoli e brutali da essere stati da lungo tempo messi al bando dalla comunità internazionale. L’idea che la tortura e i maltrattamenti siano sempre sbagliati è in auge da molti anni. E' scritto nel diritto internazionale che non c’è mai alcuna circostanza che possa giustificare la tortura e i maltrattamenti, neanche la guerra o un’emergenza nazionale.

23.06.2006 Almost every working day of the week at least some 10 people make a beeline to a small bungalow situated in a narrow lane in the heart of the southern Matara town. These people are bringing grievances to the zonal office of Sri LankaÂ’s Human Rights Commission. The Disaster Relief Monitoring Unit of the Human Rights Commission has set up an Information Centre at the zonal offices of the Commission in the tsunami-affected areas over compensation-related and other problems.
