The role of women as producers and providers of food is often overshadowed by their role as care givers. However, in most of the developing countries, including India, large numbers of women are engaged in agriculture- primarily in the production and processing of food.

White Ribbon Week (21 – 25 November) has become an annual tradition for the Women’s Wellness Center in Peja where every year many local citizens volunteer, cutting white ribbons and preparing handouts about the history of International Day against Violence against Women.

The United Nations marked November 25, 2005, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, with calls for states to take legal action against the global scourge, for societies to change a mindset that permits such abuse, and for women themselves to stand up and speak out against a culture of shame.

In many countries with high HIV rates, women do not have the power in sexual relationships to deny sex; in sub-Saharan Africa, for example, three-fourths of young people infected with HIV are women. As a result, methods of prevention controlled by women are crucial tools in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The first women's university of south Punjab formally has started functioning, initially with four disciplines, at the Government College for Women in Multan. In a ceremony held at the girl's college, the university formally launched its post-graduate academic activities for women.

One third of the total number of murders in Serbia take place in the family. There is more and more violence in the family. Over the past several years, positive moves forward in the systems of protection have been noticed. On the other hand, the shelters for women and children are overcrowded and there is a need for such shelters in every city in Serbia.

The world is set to miss its target of getting as many girls as boys into schools by the end of this year, the UN childrenÂ’s fund (Unicef) said on Friday. In a new study, Unicef said that efforts to achieve gender parity in primary education were off track, despite progress in many nations.

The “No Shame” action organized yesterday in Zagreb by the Autonomous Women’s House Zagreb, B.a.B.e. women human rights group, and the ROSA Centre for women victims of War>, and with participation by the Zenska Soba (Women Room) organization, marked the International Day of Fight against Violence against Women. The topic of the action was the violence against women and the legal and judicial treatment of the criminal offence of rape.

The Serbian Victimology Society requested a meeting with Vida Petrovic - Skero, the Head of the Supreme Court of Serbia, to discuss the judicial practices in murder cases caused by family violence. In a letter to Petrovic - Skero, the Victimology Society said that the current judicial practice is "...inadequate for cases of murders of satraps, committed by female victims".
