Last week, the “Novi List” daily published and interview with Herman Haller, Director of Clinical Centre Rijeka. In the interview that discussed the introduction of a vaccine for cancer of the uterus, Dr. Haller said that the official introduction of this vaccine should be discussed at many levels, including a discussion with the (Catholic) Church.

The participants of the Gender Equality and Role of Women in Transition and Development of Democratic Values Conference presented the institutions, public services, media, the Priboj Municipal Gender Equality Council and NGO with a set of recommendations designed to assist the achievement of true gender equality.

Mandi village, six kilometres from the district town, is now buzzing with working women. About one hundred and twenty non-literate, poor women coming from faraway areas produce garments in a tin-shed room. Today they are self-reliant, earning Tk 150 to Tk 200 a day by working for six to eight hours.

In compliance with the Cooperation Agreement concluded with the German Government, the BH Women Initiative (BHWI) Foundation announces the opening of public competition for financing of projects under the Economic Empowerment and Fight against Women Poverty Programme. The Competition is directed at interventions aimed at greater inclusion of women in labour, employment and self-employment in the country.

Activists of the “SOS Telefon Niksic” non-governmental organizations gave a performance on Friday, June 16, in front of the Municipal Building in Niksic, under the motto Did she stumble down the stairs? The performance was organized under the Programme for Improved Rights of Women in the Villages in Niksic Area, with financial support from the Balkan Community Initiatives Fund and the Dutch Central and Eastern Europe Foundation.

According to a recent ILO report on child labour,there are 218m aged 5-17 years, who are employed; of this number, 126m are employed in hazardous work. The United Nations Children's' Fund says that the sheer volume of children engaged in work is living proof of the world's failure to protect them.
