28.10.2004 Os esforços do governo de Camarões por uma melhor comunicação a serviço do combate à pobreza receberam o apoio de um projeto financiado pelo PNUD e pela UNESCO (Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, Ciência e Cultura), e realizado pelo UNICEF (Fundo das Nações Unidas para a Infância). São 15 rádios comunitárias em áreas rurais — 11 das quais acabam de entrar em operação.

27.10.2004 For the first time in Macedonia, the right to access to information will be regulated by a Law which covers many aspects of the issue of access to information. The Law also provides for responsibility in cases of failure to provide the required information, says Zoran Jacev, President of Transparency Macedonia.

20.10.2004 On 7 October, 2004, hard drives from two Indymedia servers were seized from the London office of a US-owned web hosting company, Rackspace, at the request of the US Justice Department, apparently in collaboration with Italian and Swiss authorities. The seizure of the hard drives in London shut down an Indymedia radio station and around 20 different Indymedia websites.

14.10.2004 Les bureaux du fournisseur d'accès Internet de Indymedia ont fait l'objet d'un raid de la police aux États-Unis et au Royaume-Uni aujourd'hui. Un mandat de perquisition a été émis et les disques durs des serveurs ont été saisies. Aucune raison n'a été donnée pour justifier les perqusitions. Il est possible que la publications de renseignements sur des agents de la police suisse ou de renseigenments sur certains déléguées de la convention républicaine qui s'est tenu au mois de septembre à New York ait déclenché l'opération policière. Aucune de ces hypothèse n'a cependant été confirmée.
