29.07.2005 Telesur is the name of the new Latin American satellite television station which went on the air on Sunday 24 July, but opponents of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez have already dubbed it 'Telechávez'. They're predicting that the president will use the station to promote his own ideas and as a propaganda tool to advance his 'Bolivarian revolution'.

While the U.S.-based NGO denies any wrong-doing, regional analysts say the case is politically motivated and that, with closed proceedings and the prosecutor's call for Internews to close their office, guilty verdicts are virtually assured.

Ce printemps, l’association des associations de fournisseurs d’accès Internet africains, AfrISPA, a fait connaître les deux soumissions gagnantes qui ont été présentées dans le cadre de sa demande de propositions pour fournir des connexions Internet directes entre les pays africains. (L’établissement de ces connexions s’appelle « échange de trafic régional entre homologues »; les sociétés qui assurent ces connexions s’appellent « exploitants régionaux ».)

20.07.2005 Our Media is a network of over 400 activists, media persons, researchers who work on strengthening the media and information/communication technologies (ICT's) that support social justice, human rights, community autonomy and grassroots empowerment. The last date for entries/proposals is August 31, for its international meet to be held in Bangalore on 5-9 December.

Le deuxième est que l’université africaine moyenne paie 50 fois plus pour cette largeur de bande que les universités d’Europe ou d’Amérique du Nord, qui jouissent d’une capacité beaucoup plus grande.

Officials have increasingly blamed NGOs for the international condemnation of the Andijan massacre and for inciting revolutions in neighboring Georgia, Ukraine, and Kyrgyzstan.

07.07.2005 The Memorandum of Understanding on the Unified Broadband Initiative for Southeastern Europe (bSEE) has been signed at the Ministerial Conference in Thessalonica. The participants have also agreed about a joint regional input to the second World Summit on Information Society, that will be held in Tunisia in November. Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in a Conference which gathers Communication Ministers from South-eastern Europe in Thessalonica, Greece from 30 June to 1 July.
