"La festa fu una ricorrenza istituita dal fascismo per trasformare le vittime della prima guerra mondiale in eroi coraggiosi che si immolavano per la Patria. Una guerra che costò all'Italia 650 mila morti e un milione di mutilati e feriti, molti di più di quanti erano gli abitanti di Trento e Trieste, i territori ottenuti con la vittoria della guerra che erano gia stati concessi dall'Austria all'Italia in cambio della non belligeranza". Peacelink ribadisce che "l'unico vero modo per celebrare il ricordo di una guerra è quello di impegnarsi con la nonviolenza affinchè non ci siano più guerre".
