Latin America Gets Some New Perspectives
26.07.2005 Could Telesur be Latin America's al-Jazeera? The continent-wide TV station launched Sunday, offering viewers a different perspective from the U.S.- and Europe-based corporate stations that currently dominate the airwaves. But, apparently afraid to lose the hearts and minds of another region, U.S. lawmakers have already reacted, authorizing $9 million for Washington to create its own competing station.

(L’établissement de ces connexions s’appelle « échange de trafic régional entre homologues »; les sociétés qui assurent ces connexions s’appellent « exploitants régionaux ».)

20.07.2005 Our Media is a network of over 400 activists, media persons, researchers who work on strengthening the media and information/communication technologies (ICT's) that support social justice, human rights, community autonomy and grassroots empowerment. The last date for entries/proposals is August 31, for its international meet to be held in Bangalore on 5-9 December.

19.07.2005 Il existe deux faits saisissants au sujet des universités africaines et de la largeur de bande. Le premier est que l’université moyenne en Afrique possède la même largeur de bande globale qu’un simple utilisateur de l’Amérique du Nord ou de l’Europe. Le deuxième est que l’université africaine moyenne paie 50 fois plus pour cette largeur de bande que les universités d’Europe ou d’Amérique du Nord, qui jouissent d’une capacité beaucoup plus grande.
