A new local technology podcast, hosted by a group of high profile tech journalists, was launched recently. A group of well-known technology journalists have started what they believe will become the countrys pre-eminent podcast about developments in the local and international technology industry. Known as ZA Tech Show, the podcast is recorded weekly and is available at www.zatechshow.co.za or through Apples iTunes Store.

WiMax, a new super high speed wireless technology and described as big brother of Wi-Fi, has a huge growth potential in Asia with more than 11 million subscribing to it by 2011. Worldwide the figure is expected to reach 36 million during the same period.

Jaipur, capital of western Indian state of Rajasthan, is soon going to be a wi-fi-enabled city. Data Infosys Ltd, which is among the top seven Internet Service Providers in the country, has signed an MoU with the state government in this respect.

The Tanzanian Government has arrested two online editors without charge. The two were detained and interrogated for 24 hours in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on February 18, in what observers of the case say was a politically motivated attempt to shut down the site
