Journalists in developing countries have a poor understanding of climate change, and this is holding back public debate on the issue, says a recent report. The solution, it suggests, lies partly in greater willingness on the part of both policymakers and scientists to ensure that climate change information is made readily available in a jargon-free form.

The World Social Forum (WSF) invites people to its seminar on Are Other Worlds Possible: Focus on Media and Communication at the Indian Women's Press Corps (IWPC) in New Delhi on July 1, 2006. The seminar is an interaction between media persons and the people behind the WSF and will seek to look at the state of Indian media critically.

The continuing activities of this NGO aim to strengthen environmental journalism, which has an important place in the process of increasing awareness and understanding of environmental problems in the public, as well as assist the journalists in finding sources of information on the environment.

Reporters Without Borders today hailed a Californian appeal courts historic decision on 26 May that online journalists and bloggers have the same right to protect their sources as other kinds of journalists. The ruling was issued in a case between the US electronics manufacturer Apple and websites that posted confidential information about some of its products.
