21.03.2007 Public broadcasting systems face many difficulties, both in Western Europe and in the new democracies and post-communist countries where this very concept remains rather new. In specific context of multinational or multiethnic societies such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, the process of creation of a public broadcasting system is further complicated by ethnic divisions in society and post-war circumstances that created and continue to create huge obstacles.

19.03.2007 Journalists from Croatia and other countries in the region gathered yesterday, March 18, in Karlovac, for a three-day forum aiming to improve the quality of reporting on the problem of waste management in Croatia.

12.03.2007 New Delhi-based NGO working on media issues - Centre for Media Studies - is holding a conference, Communication for Social Development: Discourse and Practice at the south Indian city of Hyderabad from April 12-14, 2007. The three-day event is being held in collaboration with the University of Hyderabad.

08.03.2007 B92 Radio’s Pescanik show, prepared by Svetlana Lukic and Svetlana Vukovic, won the 2006 Award Presented by Reporters Sans Frontiers – Austria.

06.03.2007 The MAJA MILES Award, presented annually by the Croatian Women Network for achievement in gender sensitive journalism, for 2007 will go to Orlanda Obad from Jutarnji List and Irena Frlan from Novi List, for their systemic and quality promotion of gender and sexual minorities’ equality in the media. The Award is presented on March 8, the International Women’s Day.

06.03.2007 The NGO Infocentre, in cooperation with the Government’s Department for Gender Equality, organized a focus-discussion dedicated to media and gender equality.
