The Anti-Corruption Coalition invites you to join its first civic action, the Anti-Corruption Protest Walk, planned for April 4, 2005. The protest walk will express the solidarity with all victims of corruption in the City of Zagreb.

The Theatre Society DASKA, from Sisak, was established in 1976. Ever since the Croatian Rights Party (HSP) entered the local government in 2002, DASKA doesnt receive any funding for its programmes by the city, in spite of the fact that it applies in all competitions for funding. For the past seven years, DASKA survives solely on the financing it receives by the Ministry of Culture.

To commemorate World Tuberculosis Day on Thursday, the Pan American Health Organization celebrated health care providers everywhere who are vital to the successful treatment of tuberculosis, which still kills 5,000 everyday worldwide. While cure rates in the Americas increase yearly, in other regions of the world TB continues to be a deepening challenge for health systems.

Placards with a call to boycott B92 Radio and Television and the graffiti on the Jewish cemetery dawned this morning in Belgrade. Over the night, hate graffiti were painted at the entrance of teh offices of Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia and the Humanitarian Law Centre.

PrepCom III, leading to the Tunis phase of WSIS, will be held from 19 to 30 September. It will take place in Palais des Nations, Geneva. During the Inter-Sessional period between PrepCom 2 and PrepCom 3, the Group of Friends of the Chair (GFC) will continue to draft proposals for Chapter one (Implementation Mechanisms) and four (The Way Ahead) of the operational part. All the governments and other stakeholders can contribute to this process during this period.

Grassroots International's Eritrea program launched in 1983, during the country's remarkable liberation struggle against better funded and better equipped Ethiopia. But Eritrea failed to remain true to the values and ideals it embraced during that struggle, and the deteriorating economic, social and political situation in the country has left Grassroots no choice but to withdraw its support, the group has said.

Indian civil society organisations have criticised the levels of government spending on social and development issues in the 2005 budget. They say more investment in India's poor, and especially in education is required. There is also concern at the budget's lack of reference to MDGs.
