The UN will hold an inter-agency meet on communication for development at Addis Ababa on 12-14 February, 2007 to develop a UN-based common approach to C4D in the context of achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The meet will be hosted by UNESCO.

The We Can campaign, that is encouraging people in South Asia to stand up against domestic violence, has successfully trained 3,50,000 National Change Makers in India to bring about a change in the hearts and minds of people. The focus of the campaign is to bring about a positive attitude and behaviour towards women in the Indian sub-continent.

The NGO Coalition Cooperation for a Common Goal prepared the second draft of the Strategy of Relations between the Government and NGOs in Montenegro, the NGO Code of Conduct and the Structure of Public Funding Financing for NGOs, and invites all stake-holders to comment on the papers through the Coalitions web-site.

NEW DELHI, Dec 16 (OneWorld) - Nearly 60 percent of southern India's tsunami-affected citizens are living in temporary shelters two years after the disaster, a local group said this week, blaming the housing shortcomings on government apathy and poor construction efforts by both the government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

The Stockholm Challenge GKP Awards 2007 is a new prize, launched by Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) and the Stockholm Challenge. It is designed as an integral part of the Stockholm Challenge 2008 and will open in four of the ordinary six ICT4D categories: Culture, Economic Development, Education and Public Administration. The Stockholm Challenge GKP Awards 2007 opens on 1 January 2007 and will be accessible both from the Stockholm Challenge website and from the GKP portal.

The aim is to challenge and change deeply-entrenched gender-biased societal attitudes and practices that endorse gender discrimination and violence.
