LAlliance de la Fonction publique du Canada (AFPC) demande au nouveau gouvernement dintervenir rapidement pour empêcher la grève générale des travailleurs et travailleuses du secteur public fédéral, grève qui se dessine pour la fin de lété.

Le Québec aura donc résisté. Alors que les deux grands réseaux de télévision francophones prédisaient autour de 22h un gouvernement libéral minoritaire, précisait Bernard Derome , les Québécois ont donné 54 sièges au Bloc québécois, lui accordant 50 % des suffrages. Le Bloc rejoint ainsi les 54 sièges obtenus sous Lucien Bouchard en 1993, exploit qui navait pas été réédité depuis.

According to a new nationwide poll, more than 80 percent of the U.S. public supports pending legislation to cut the emission of greenhouse gases, while two thirds said they are willing to pay the US$15 a month - or nearly $200 a year - that experts believe the legislation, the Climate Stewardship Act (CSA), will cost the average household.

On May 30, members of the performance art collective Critical Art Ensemble were subpoenaed by the FBI. The FBI is planning to indict Steve Kurtz, a member of CAE before a grand jury on June 15, on unknown charges.

In yesterdays second round of the 2004 Presidential Election, Boris Tadic, candidate of the reformist Democratic Party, was elected for the Office of the President of Serbia. Tadic won with 53.7% of the votes (1,706,888 votes), while his opponent Tomislav Nikolic, from the Serb Radical Party won 1,431,833 votes, or 45% of the votes. These were the estimated results released by the Centre for Free Elections and Democracy (CeSID).

Most of the participants in the meeting of Albanian and Serbs leaders and international representatives were convinced that Serbs had decided to return to Kosova institutions. But Serb representative did not confirm this, saying that they had been expecting better conditions.

Plus de cinquante millions de citoyens américains, soit un quart du corps électoral, vont utiliser des machines électroniques pour voter lors de l'élection présidentielle de 2004. 80% de ces machines ont été achetées par les différents Etats américains à deux sociétés, Diebold et ES&S (Election Systems and Softwrare) qui sont connues pour leurs liens étroits et incestueux avec le clan républicain. 80 % de ces machines ne produiront pas de reçu papier pour les votes effectués.

EU Special Representative for Macedonia, Soren Jessen Petersen is prepared to mediate the decentralization negotiations between the Government coalition partners, but only if invited, said the EU Spokesperson in Macedonia, Sheena Thompson. She added, however, that should Petersen accepts the mediation role, he will conduct it from the position of neutral observer.

Negli ultimi giorni sono stati uccisi due rappresentati ufficiali del governo di transizione iracheno. Nel nord dell'Iraq a Kirkuk è stato ucciso un leader religioso kurdo in una situazione che vede i kurdi siriani chiedere la stessa autonomia ottenuta in Iraq, ma ottenendo dal governo siriano la sospensione forzata di tutte le attività dei parititi organizzati. Un clamoroso gesto di protesta arriva dallinviato speciale dell'Onu in Iraq, Lakhdar Brahimi, che si è dimesso denunciando di essere stato messo da parte dagli Usa durante il processo di formazione del governo ad interim. "Un Ponte per" sottolinea quanto la risoluzione approvata dal Consiglio di Sicurezza non sia una vera svolta.

According to the State Electoral Commission information based on the processed 95,74% of all ballot stations, Tomislav Nikolic from the Serb Radical Party and Boris Tadic from the Democratic Party will go to the second round of Presidential Elections, scheduled for June 27.
