The Referendum on the New Constitution of Serbia succeeded, reports CeSID on the basis of its exit poll conducted on a representative sample of 600 ballot stations. 51.6% of all registered voters voted for the New Constitution. In absolute numbers, that is 108,000 votes more than the required threshold.

Marijana Pajvancic, professor of Constitutional Law at Novi Sad University, said last night, at the Boycott, Of Course! debate held at the Museum of Vojvodina, that the referendum process wont be controlled properly, having in mind that the Referendum Commission members come solely from the ranks of political parties that support the New Constitution.

O apoio dos movimentos sociais à reeleição do presidente Luis Inácio Lula da Silva se intensificam no país faltando poucos dias para a votação do segundo turno, dia 29 de outubro. Na última quinta-feira, 19, milhares de militantes foram às ruas em várias capitais para lançar e distribuir o manifesto "Com Lula, para derrotar a direita nas ruas e nas urnas".

We know that the US did support a military coup, which briefly overthrew President Chavez and the US had to back down, when he was restored quickly and also had to back down in the face of a very angry reaction in Latin American. In almost all of Latin America, there was a very angry reaction. They take democracy there more seriously then we do here.

The Director for Public Relations at the Parliament of Albania has notified the editorial offices of the private media that starting on October 11, 2006, there shall be no live broadcasts of the plenary sessions of the Parliament. The reasons for this decision was explained with the need to sign specific contracts with the private TV stations.

Tuto Completo, the Kakanj based NGO that is known to the public for its role in the Motley Revolution in front of the Building of the B&H Presidency in Sarajevo of two weeks ago, finally spoke out on the reasons and goals of its action. At the same time, it apologized to the citiznes and to the members of SIPA for the provoked brutality.

The State Electoral Commission published the first preliminary results of the B&H General Elections, held on October 1. The voter turnout in the Elections was 55% of the total number of registered voters.

Last Friday, September 29, Albanian Government faced the first civil protests in Tirana since the eruption of the Albatros Scandal. Civil Action a new movement on the civil scene protested in front of the Ministry of the Public Affairs demanding immediate dismissal of the Director of Civil Aviation, Gazment Dibra.
