Between November 22 and 24, a shipment of six truckloads of corn returned to Croatia, originally exported to Hungary, to a known buyer, by Agragold Company from Zagreb. The Hungarians returned the corn accompanied with a report by a Budapest laboratory which states that the shipment contained genetically modified corn, report Osijek Greens.

Nepal's oldest community radio station was shut down by government officials Sunday, and many other stations have switched to broadcasting "soft news." The move is making it difficult for the country's illiterate population to get news about last week's key agreement between Maoist rebels and the country's political parties, to which the king has not yet responded.

The first women's university of south Punjab formally has started functioning, initially with four disciplines, at the Government College for Women in Multan. In a ceremony held at the girl's college, the university formally launched its post-graduate academic activities for women.

An effort to regulate drug prices in India, through measures other than price control, has been wasted. A task force set up under Supreme Court directions to find ways to reduce prices of life-saving drugs, could not come up with many viable solutions.

Bangladesh govt planning to introduce 'unified education system' at the secondary level.The system that intends to replace the existing compartmentalized methods of education---- students are allowed to take up science, commerce and humanities subjects at class nine--- with an unified education system at the secondary level from the next academic year.

In a move that could shut down one of Coca-Cola's largest bottling plant in India permanently, the Kerala government has notified the area as "over-exploited" where one of Coca-Cola's largest bottling plants is located in southern India. The government seeks to regulate the use of groundwater due to scarcity.

Reporters Without Borders today urged Commonwealth heads of government to see that people killing journalists because of their work were duly punished, so the Commonwealth could become a true home of democracy and freedom. Many journalists have been killed in the south Asian region simply for doing their duty.

The Indian Ministry of Environment and Forests has allowed two Indian oil companies to carry out offshore drilling on the country's east coast near the state of Orissa. The drilling will be carried out near a marine sanctary and a Ramsar site that harbour the endangered turtle as well as an endangered specie of dolphin.
