Spain has joined the troupe of European countries moving towards equal rights for gay and lesbian couples as its legislature began the process to legalize same-sex marriage. The law would afford same-sex couples the same pension, inheritance, and adoption rights currently enjoyed by heterosexual couples.

Starting from beginning of May the new Immigration Law will enter into force in Kosovo. The Regulation 2005/16, the basis of the legislation, was signed by the Deputy Head of UNMIK, Larry Rossin. The regulation sets the legal framework for immigration, i.e. defines the category of persons who may enter and stay in Kosovo, as well as required documents for entrance.

During his two-day trip to Kotor, the Montenegro Ombudsman Sefko Crnovrsanin received the complaints from 30 citizens. Of them, 16 presented him with written submissions, seven of which complained at the work of the Municipal Court, for delay of procedures.

The latest report by UNICEF, “Trafficking in Human Beings in Southeast Europe 2004”, states that Albania, B&H, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania and SCG did pass strict legislation against human trafficking, but failed to do enough to eradicate the problem.
