The Civic Initiatives, in cooperation with the European Centre for Non-profit Law (ECNL) from Budapest, and under the auspices of the Civil Society Advocacy Initiative – CSAI programme implemented by the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) prepares a Manual on Tax System for Civic Association in Serbia. The manual is financed by USAID.

On the European Union's 50th anniversary, the Mjaft! Movement activists protested in front of the Albanian Parliament. The activists enclosed themselves in a space circumscribed with barbed wire, which symbolized the barrier between Albania and Europe, and they focused their attention on the lack of national ID cards.

The Parliament of Montenegro decided to include the proposed Draft-Law on Protection of Households in the Energy Sector in its agenda of legislation to be debated. The Draft was prepared by the Network for Affirmation of the NGO Sector (MANS), and was supported by more than 7,000 citizens who signed the petition.

SAN FRANCISCO, Mar 17 (OneWorld) - Politicians in Washington are debating the issue of immigration this week. Many Democrats want to create a guest worker program through which undocumented immigrants would be able to earn legalization over time. Conservative Republicans have their own ideas--from stepping up deportations, to building a fence along the U.S.-Mexican border, to punishing employers who hire undocumented workers.

Indian NGO Toxics Link has brought out a report Mumbai: Choking on E-Waste - A study on the status of e-waste in Mumbai that reveals that Mumbai is not just the leading generator of electronic waste in the country, but also exports a large part of it to adjoining areas and also to Delhi. It is a detailed report on the Electronic and Electrical Equipments (WEEE) in Mumbai.

The Indian government has initiated the registration of plant varieties with the Protection of Plant Variety and FarmersÂ’ Rights Authority (PPV&FRA) to provide them globally-recognised protection against piracy. The government plans to register 12 varieties of crop that will provide protection to farmers and farm communities to evolve, preserve and refine crop varieties.
