The newest official U.S. intelligence review not only contradicts the Bush administration's line on Iranian intentions regarding nuclear weapons, but points to a link between Tehran's 2003 decision to halt research on weaponisation and its decision to negotiate with European foreign ministers on both nuclear and Iranian security concerns.

Voices for nuclear disarmament in the South Asian region will find the ISF a strong platform for voicing their pacifist views. Events like - Nuclear Free South Asia, People's Initiative for a Peaceful South Asia and Reducing Military Spending in India and Pakistan - the Peace Dividend - are taking place at the ISF on November 10 and 12. Most have been organised by Indian and Pakistani NGOs working on improving relations between the two countries.

Viisi entistä neuvostotasavaltaa allekirjoitti sopimuksen Keski-Aasian ydinaseista vapaasta alueesta (Central Asia nuclear-weapon-free zone). Sopimuksen mukaan ne eivät enää koskaan hanki, valmista, omista tai testaa ydinaseita. Osa Neuvostoliiton ydinaseista oli aikaisemmin sijoitettu näihin Keski-Aasian neuvostotasavaltoihin Kazakstaniin, Kirgisiaan, Tadzhikistaniin, Turkemistaniin ja Uzbekistaniin.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, May 8 (ENS) - Brazil has inaugurated its first uranium enrichment facility to produce the type of fuel for nuclear power plants that Iran is running into trouble for attempting to produce. There are strong suspicions that the objective of the Iranian nuclear program is to eventually build a bomb, but Brazil has managed to assure the international community its intentions are industrial and commercial, not military.
