The Osijecki Zeleni (Osijek Greens) environmental organization called upon the Government of Croatia to use the UN Commission for Peace auspices, and especially its status of candidate country for full EU membership, to make strong and active effort towards an immediate and unconditional stop of war in Lebanon.

SAN FRANCISCO, Jul 22 (OneWorld) - Iraq's most revered Shi'ite cleric called for an end to sectarian violence Friday, just days after separate announcements declared that, on average, 100 Iraqi civilians died every day in May and June and more than a 1,000 fled their homes each day over the past five months.

SAN FRANCISCO, Jul 5 (IPS) - IPS contributor Alaa Hassan was killed on his way to work last Wednesday. He was 35 years old. He is survived by his mother, five brothers, five sisters and his wife who is pregnant with their first child.

Last week, a three-day training programme was organized for the members of police force on methods of investigation of hate crimes. Hate crimes were recently introduced to the Croatian Criminal Code. The training was conducted by local police trainers, with assistance by UK and US experts.
