In response to the growing crisis in children's diet-related health, a Children's Food Bill, developed by Sustain - the alliance for better food and farming and supported by 114 national organisations - will be presented to Parliament today by Debra Shipley MP. The Bill aims to improve childrens current and future health and prevent food-related ill-health, such as childhood obesity and the many other diseases which are linked to childrens junk food diets.

Child trafficking is a growing problem in London yet the majority of social workers do not have the information, training or resources to tackle the problem according to a new report by ECPAT UK. Anti-Slavery International, Barnardos, Jubilee Campaign, NSPCC, Save the Children UK, The Body Shop Foundation, The Childrens Society, UNICEF UK and World Vision UK are all coalition members of ECPAT UK.

The pressure is on for the UK Green Party. It knows this June's European elections are its best hope of making a breakthrough. At the launch of the Greens' European campaign today, its south-west candidate David Taylor will insist the party can boost its two MEPs to six despite a fall in the overall number of British MEPs.

A new report published jointly by Greenpeace and the farmers' campaigning group FARM shows that dairy industry can immediately go GM-free, with no cost to the consumer or the farmer, and switch to a feed regime based on crops grown on-farm and regionally in the UK.

Five years after the McLibel 2 (Helen Steel and Dave Morris) last appeared in court for their appeal, the European Court of Human Rights has declared admissible their claim that the long running McLibel trial breached their right to a fair trial and freedom of expression. The case will be heard in full at the European Court on 7 September 2004.
