Trade between India and Pakistan can increase to a phenomenal level of 6.6 billion dollars if barriers are removed and the neighbouring country implements the South Asia Free Trade Area (SAFTA) agreement, an ICRIER report has said.

The SEE Youth Network annual assembly, held earlier this month in Montenegro, decided, by unanimous decision, to accept the Croatian Youth Network for associate membership. CYN may become full member of SEEYN in a years time, if it proves, through its activities and engagement, itself worthy of it.

Today, civil society is indeed active and vibrant but that is largely on account of individual drive and concern. We talk of public-private partnerships to build roads and highways, establish power stations and ports. Why not public-civil society alliances in areas of social infrastructure? Ms. Gandhi said at the World Economic Forum meet.

It has been almost 13 years since President Bill Clinton played the saxophone given to him by then President of Czechoslovakia Vaclav Havel, at the stage of the Reduta Jazz Club in Prague. The two presidents shared the stage once again last Wednesday, this time at the Alfred Lerner Hall of Columbia University in New York, where they had an hour long public discussion titled Challenges of New Democracies.

The health ministry is attempting to regulate and standardise the nature of healthcare being provided to Indian citizens by introducing a new law -- the Clinical Establishment Act -- to register all healthcare infrastructure within the next two years.

As per a project financed by the Austrian Development Agency ADA, the Economic Initiative for Kosova - ECIKS will represent the Investment Promotion Agency of Kosovo - IPAK in German Speaking Countries. The project is to be implemented by ECIKS and supported by Kosovar Ministry for Trade and Industry.

President Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam presented Indira Gandhi Peace Prize to Afghanistan President Mr. Hamid Karzai at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The award is given for his role in peace, disarmament and development by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.

Last Wednesday, November 8, the European Commission released the first Progress Report for Macedonia in its preparations for EU membership since the country was granted the status of candidate country. This is the first report on progress made by this country in preparing for EU membership. The period covered by this report is 1 October 2005 to 30 September 2006.
