The independent body will carry out an objective analysis of the impact of AIDS on human resources, labour productivity, poverty reduction, social stability and household savings in the Asia-Pacific region. Based on its findings it will recommend measures to mobilise adequate governmental responses to the disease.

The study, undertaken by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) and supported by the National AIDS Control Organisation and the United Nations Development Programme, has found that not only enrolment of children from HIV households is lower than those from non-HIV households but also the dropout rates are higher and attendance is lower.

UNESCO, in collaboration with NACO/ Delhi State AIDS Society / is implementing a project on Preventive AIDS Education in 100 Government Schools of Delhi, with the help of 10 NGOs.Prerana one of the partners NGO has undertaken this project to plan and implement AIDS Training Programme in 10 Government Senior Secondary Schools located in South Delhi.
