The Independent Peoples Tribunal (IPT) on the World Bank in India has held the BankÂ’s policies and projects guilty of causing untold sufferings among millions of poor and of violating human rights. The four-day hearing was attended by activists, civil society groups, academics, policy analysts and project affected communities who presented evidence against the Bank.

The RAFTO Prize, an international human rights prize awarded annually to human rights defenders, has been won by Indian organisation National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR). Previous RAFTO laureates include Aung San Suu Kyi and Kim Dae-Jung.

The latest 5th edition of the Key Indicators of the Labour Market (KILM) report, published every other year by the International Labour Organization, makes available labour market information, analysis and key elements. A set of 20 labour market indicators covers the various features of decent work deficits worldwide, keeping in mind the changing labour market conditions.

NEW YORK, Sep 11 (OneWorld) - Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the United States' two closest allies in its so-called "war on terror," violated international law this week when a key political opposition leader was forcibly flown out of one country and into to the other, a leading human rights watchdog has charged.

On 30 August 2007, Amnesty International India released a handbook entitled A World Without Torture. The book calls on governments to implement a 12-point programme to stamp out torture worldwide. It also offers specific steps that civil society and individuals can adopt, along with a set of frequently asked questions.
