27.09.2007 The Independent Peoples Tribunal (IPT) on the World Bank in India has held the BankÂ’s policies and projects guilty of causing untold sufferings among millions of poor and of violating human rights. The four-day hearing was attended by activists, civil society groups, academics, policy analysts and project affected communities who presented evidence against the Bank.

05.09.2007 On 30 August 2007, Amnesty International India released a handbook entitled A World Without Torture. The book calls on governments to implement a 12-point programme to stamp out torture worldwide. It also offers specific steps that civil society and individuals can adopt, along with a set of frequently asked questions.
