For the first time in history, activists, academicians, policy analysts and project affected communities congregated at the Jawarharlal Nehru University in New Delhi on the 21st of September 2007, to conduct a four day comprehensive analysis of the World Bank and its impact on people in India.

Mainstreet Technologies threw its hat in the ring this week to be the first to complete an African west coast fibre project to compete with SAT3. The cable will connect 12 countries, some already connected to SAT3, others not. Russell Southwood spoke to the projects CEO Funke Opeke and discovered how it intends to win the race to complete.

The botted water industry is global in nature. But it is designed to sell the same product to two completely different markets: one water rich and the other water scarce. The question is whether this industry will have different outcomes in these two worlds. Or will we, for two opposite reasons, agree that their business costs us the earth and that it is not good for us?
