On World Consumer Rights Day, 15 March, G8 energy ministers meet in Moscow to discuss the future of global energy supplies. French President Jacques Chirac has declared 10 May an annual national day of remembrance for the victims of slavery and said it should be taught in primary and secondary schools as part of the national curriculum: "Slavery fed racism ... When people tried to justify the unjustifiable, that was when the first racist theories were elaborated."
