Rokote vaikuttaa olevan kehitysmaiden suurin toivo viruksen kuriin saamiseksi, mutta sen kehittämisessä on kohdattu suuria vastoinkäymisiä.

ActionAid International ha inviato una lettera al Ministro Siniscalco affinché, durante il vertice dei Ministri delle Finanze del G7 a Londra il 4 febbraio, l’Italia non faccia mancare azioni concrete a sostegno di una lotta efficace all’HIV e AIDS. “I fatti che dimostrano la gravità dell’emergenza sono ormai noti;” dichiara Marco De Ponte, Segretario Generale di ActionAid International “tre milioni di morti nel 2004 e 40 milioni di ammalati, due terzi dei quali vivono in Africa australe. Questo significa che il 20% dei bambini in Botswana sono orfani e che la vita media in Zambia è scesa a poco più di 34 anni; sono situazioni che pregiudicano seriamente lo sviluppo futuro di questi paesi”.

ActionAid International ha inviato una lettera al Ministro Siniscalco affinché, durante il vertice dei Ministri delle Finanze del G7 a Londra il 4 febbraio, l'Italia non faccia mancare azioni concrete a sostegno della lotta all'Hiv e Aids. "I 180 milioni di euro a favore del Fondo Globale per la Lotta all'Aids, Tubercolosi e Malaria, previsti dal decreto legge del 19 gennaio 2005, sono un segnale positivo per confermare la posizione assunta dall'Italia - dice la Ong che chiede al Governo di stanziare i rimanenti 40 milioni e la cancellazione del debito dei Paesi duramente colpiti dall'Aids.
