With a view to educate truckers about the prevention of AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome) and other STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases), the Population Services International (PSI) in Bhopal has launched an intensive on-ground activity - 'Kaun Banega Sham Sitara' on National Highway Nos. 3 & 7 passing through Madhya Pradesh.

One fact went unnoticed in the UNAIDS Report on the Global AIDS Epidemic released last month: the figure of estimated AIDS deaths in India was over 4 lakh in 2005.This is the highest in the world—South Africa had an estimated figure of about 3.2 lakh for the same period.

Fighting AIDS is getting them big business. Shrinking the massive battle against HIV/AIDS to the tiny space of the mobile phone screen, ZMQ Software Systems, which had launched the "Freedom HIV/AIDS" Mobile Games on the awareness of the disease on December 1, 2005 - World AIDS Day -- has become the first Indian company to be honoured by Global Business Coalition.

Despite the fact that India has overtaken South Africa as the country with the largest number of people infected with HIV/AIDS - approximately 5.7 million - the activities of Madhya Pradesh Aids Control Society (MPSACS) are on a downward curve particularly during the last two months.
